Legendary Artifacts

Wouldn't it be cool if you could make artifacts in minecraft? Maybe create a unique diamond sword? I have an idea. A magic crafting table, in which can be used to edit items and give them unique abilities and textures.
You can edit the texture, in the form of a temporary file. Then the item can be named, and given a special effect, unlocked via killing bosses.
You simply get a non/enchanted item, right click on the table, and a texture editor appears. You can edit the texture to your hearts content. The texture could work similar to a player skin.
Then the abilities appear. These include magic powers, such as the ability to regenerate when holding the item. Unlike enchantments, these spells effect the player in a more defensive or environment changing way (such as walking on water or causing fires to burn around you)
The name of the item would appear similar to how a books name appears, the name you gave it on top and the name of the item on the bottom.

The Idea is great! But i have Minor tweaks:

-Instead of Making 'A magic Crafting table' make it like 'The Great Enhancer' (I DID NOT MEAN ENCHANTER)

-Instead of making it Put it in the Ender Complex, *Its a magical place!*

That kinda makes it too hard to make artifacts in my opinion...
